Adventures in clothing alterations

So as wonderful as losing a lot of "unhappy" weight is, there is a definite cost associated with it. Namely, the literal cost of having to be continually buying new clothing.  I'm down a solid 4 sizes now and I think I'm about where I should be.   Along the way, I bought "filler" clothes each size down, but given that I'm now a single mom with two kids, I can't necessarily afford to buy a new wardrobe every other month.  ENTER one of the most fabulous inventions that resides in my house, my SEWING MACHINE!!!!

I had been stockpiling clothes that I just loved and "thought" I might be able to modify since... March?  They have collected in a heap of overflowingness on a chair at my kitchen table.  I've repeatedly moved this pile into hiding when having company over and FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY I sat down and spent 3 hours a few weekends ago just ripping through much of the stack.  So far I have mostly addressed shirts, but I did pull aside a few pants and skirts to try, hopefully this weekend??

Here are some before/after shots of my modifications, which consisted of taking each side seam in by 2" (this is equivalent to about 8" of circumference removed from the top).  Some tops also needed to have the shoulder seam shortened so the top hit me in the right spots :o)

And a picture of all the modifications total, yay me!!!  A free new closet!!

Here is what I wore first day at new job.  The top, skirt and belt all modified to fit!!

Cute shoes and earrings to complete the look!
