Dreaming big!!!

Alternative title?  What I will do when I win the $1.5 billion dollar Powerball tomorrow night!  :o)  Because, yes, this is something worth spending time in your day considering ;o)

Now, to be honest, I have never in my life bought a Powerball ticket before tonight, mostly because I understand the almost non-existent probability of winning and lets face it, I'd rather buy a Starbucks coffee with guaranteed returns. ;o)  Given this is a record-setting amount though AND the probability of me winning is 0 if I don't buy a ticket.... Well, I bought 20.  ;o)

So lets presume for this hypothetical evaluation I am the solo winner and decide for a lump sum payment, netting me $400M in take-home funding.  Here's how I plan to spend my loot!

  • $100k for my needs spending = to pay off my house and update my landscaping to what I imagine in my head (versus what I can actually see outside!)
  • $100k for my wants spending = buy an electric car, a kayak, and a sweet road bike
  • $100k for my travel wants spending (yes, this deserves its OWN category!) = 2 week trip to Iceland, 2 week sailing adventure in Thailand, 3 month backpacking tour across Europe, 5 month hiking trip along the Appalachian trail.
  • $200k for kids' college education funds (DAMN kids are expensive!)
  • $1M for each kid in a lifetime annuity (and my kids are SPOILED).
  • $10M to family/friends, they will have to cover the taxes on these gifts ;o)
  • $1M for my knitting/crafting/coffee shop start-up
  • $2M to fund me to retirement in case above-shop can't support my lifestyle

And....  thats it.  $15.5M is all I could dream up that I want/plan to spend directly.

The other $384.5 million?

I'm going to divide into half, with 1st half going to immediate charitable donations for causes I support (my church, NPR, Girl Scouts, The Water Project, Flo,  A Mighty Girl, to list a few).  The second half I'm going use to start a Women-centered grant program, offering grants to Women-led ventures/start-up ideas that drive positive change to their community and thereby to the world.

Fingers crossed!!!!
